My Ryvid Anthem

I finally did it!  After 2 years of research into electric motorcycles, and after an incredible drop in the price, I purchased a Ryvid Anthem in May of 2024.  Most importantly, as of this writing, Ryvid Anthems are selling for $6,495!  I'll be making a lot of posts about this excellent motorcycle, but to sum up, it does not disappoint!

I had been leaning towards and had test rode a Zero DS at GOAZ in Peoria Arizona a couple years ago. That started my desire to get an electric motorcycle.  The price of the Zero at the time was $14,995 and they were few and far between.  I remember my first acceleration on that Zero; you could barely hear the whine of the electric motor, mostly just the wind rushing around your head.  The Anthem is a bit louder, but still very quiet.  I'll compare more between these two bikes in another post.

I had also been looking at the Sondors Metacycle which I thought looked pretty cool and had a better purchase price.  At the time, the launch edition was $5,000 which I believe went up to $6,500 before the company went defunct and from what I understand, just stole a bunch of people's money.

I remember the day I pulled the trigger on the Anthem.  My wife and I were visiting her daughter in Phoenix in an AirBnB (sidenote: still don't care for staying at AirBnBs.  There is no breakfast).  I had been working at the breakfast bar and looked up from my laptop to the window.  I could see across the road in an open garage, a Sondors Metacycle!  "You've got to be kidding me!", I exclaimed to myself as I normally talk to myself out loud.  My wife asked what it was and I pointed out the window and said "It's a Metacycle!  What are the chances!?"  I mean, they're not good, right!?  They're out of business and I just learned a couple minutes ago that the Metacycle was never even street legal? Yikes.

Those neighbors were nice enough for me to check it out and I was very happy to have dodged that Metabullet.  The person who has it said it belonged to a friend of his and he has a very short commute to work and it works great for him - which is great.  My biggest complaint about the Metacycle was the size.  The Metacycle's frame is small for my size and the seat is literally 6" wide.  I'm 6 foot, 220 pounds so it was just completely uncomfortable for me.  Yes, I need to lose weight anyhow, but the point is the Anthem has a real motorcycle seat, and a large piece of plastic that you can actually grip with your legs.

I will be posting a lot of info in the near future.  If you're on the fence about getting a Ryvid Anthem and you're waiting for some overweight stranger to tell you it's a good buy; it's a good buy!  There you go.
